Infotainment Systems Test Engineer (Belmont, CA)
Role Summary: This open position is part of a team that focuses on the series development support of electronic/electronic systems with particular relevance to the US, Mex and Canadian markets. People most suited for this position are able to derive technical systems from market-driven ideas, assertively work with suppliers building trust and finding common ground solutions, and work well in a multi-disciplined environment.
Role responsibilities:
- Regular Interaction with international partners (internal and external)
- Partner with development department for test, launch and series support of electronic car systems(test procedures, plans routes, execution, coordination etc.—both lab and field)
- Work with suppliers of automobile and testing electronics hardware and software
- Coordinate Bluetooth compatibility tests with external companies
- System and concept validation, Error und Bug-Fix verification
- Communicate test contents and results to the Group using advanced equipment and standardized systems for error reporting, prepare regular project status reports
- Establish and maintain an error reporting database, cross-link objective quality results to other US specific navigation test databases
- Ensure actuality and function of test setups (systems and vehicles), maintain and operate infotainment test-bench systems
- Build-up, package, and integrate new prototypes into cars
- System and error analysis, Pre-analyze system behavior in error situations
- Derive reproducibility of system malfunction, Cluster and categorize error patterns
- Use state-of-the art testing, logging and analysis tools
Qualifications (Skills & Experiences & Education):
- Years of experience 1-2
- Prior experience in related areas of expertise (vehicle electronics testing, CAN, MOST, embedded automotive systems, development/testing of multi-media, telephone, Bluetooth, GPS, etc.)
- Prior experience in working with tier-1 suppliers
- Bluetooth communication protocols (HFP,SAP,A2DP)
- Mobile technologies (WIFI, Apps testing)
Education:
- Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering, or related field desired; no degree but 2+ years or relevant experience will be acceptable
- Relevant coursework
Specialized skills, knowledge or certifications unique to this role Required:
- Automotive electronics knowledge
- Embedded and integrated automotive systems, system level thinking
- Automotive information and multi-media
- navigation systems, GPS OR Bluetooth technology
- noise and echo cancelation technologies
- media and radio technologies
- Ability to interpret technical specifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Motivated team player, with positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Knowledge of automotive bus systems
Desired:
- Controller Area Networks (CAN)
- Media oriented systems transport (MOST)
- German language skills desired, but not necessary
Work flexibility (travel requirements, work schedule, etc.):
- Travel as needed within U.S. to support test drives, shows and project specific training 15-20%
- Flexible working schedule, temporarily Maybe weekends, for test drives.(this comes from the need to get tests done, some testing may carry over to weekends etc.)
- This is a full testing position, person needs to be able to test from A-Z: create tests, set up testing, perform actual test, validate data, and report on the data that was found.
- Looking for test experience for Navigation, radio and Bluetooth: ideal candidate has experience with all three, but experience in testing any one category will be acceptable
